The long game

The Long Game

I’ve spent most of my life chasing endurance.
It started as a way to rebuild myself — and over time, it became who I am.

There’s something about endurance that’s deeper than racing. It’s not about one day or one event. It’s about showing up — especially on the days when no one’s watching.

What Endurance Really Teaches You
Endurance humbles you.It teaches patience, consistency, and the value of doing the work even when it’s boring.
I’ve had days when I wanted to stop mid-ride, when my legs were trashed, or when life outside of training made it hard to stay focused. But the thing about endurance is that it rewards the ones who stay.

Progress doesn’t come from chasing intensity or chasing the next new thing. It comes from committing to the process — day after day — until it becomes who you are.
That’s what I’ve always loved about triathlon. The solitary and group swims. The long, quiet miles on the bike.

Some of my runs are when I do most of my thinking even.
The discipline that bleeds into every part of life.

The Seasoned Athlete’s Perspective

As I’ve gotten older, endurance has taken on a new meaning. It’s not just about chasing personal bests anymore — it’s about honoring the lifestyle that built me.
Every ride at sunrise or run before the world wakes up reminds me why I started. It’s grounding. It’s simple. It’s pure.

And that’s what keeps me showing up — not just as a coach or athlete, but as a person who still believes in doing hard things.
Because endurance isn’t about the finish line anymore. It’s about the standard you hold for yourself along the way.

Why I Still Believe in the Long Game

Triathlon gave me structure, focus, and a sense of purpose that’s shaped my entire life.Even after 30 years, that feeling hasn’t faded.
What endurance teaches you — patience, grit, humility — transfers into everything else: business, relationships, health, and longevity. That’s the real win.
Because at the end of the day, endurance isn’t just a sport. It’s a mindset. It’s a way to live.

And I’ll take that over a finish-line photo any day.

If you’re chasing your own version of the long game — whether it’s your first race or your next big goal — that’s exactly what we build for inside the SuperFly Squad.

Train smarter. Perform better. Live fully.
